“Falling into a New Destiny: How a Dog’s Second Lease of Life Led Him to Serve a Worthy Cause”

A dog named ‘Miracle’ managed to survive a horrifying drop from a balcony on the second floor and is now ready to begin a fresh phase of life as a service dog for a veteran, following several months of being in foster care.

Last December, a video showing a young German Shepherd being thrown from a balcony in Daytona Beach made headlines. However, this pup has some good news to share – she’s been adopted and is set to start a new life as a service dog for a war veteran. After the incident, the court ruled that the dog’s previous owner, Allison Murphy, was unfit to care for her and granted a petition for rehoming. Murphy has since been charged with a felony and will not be allowed to own pets for the next five years.

In December of last year, a woman at a hotel in Daytona Beach caused concern when witnesses reported that she was standing on the second-floor balcony and threatening to jump. Despite calls being made to the police, the situation took an unexpected turn when a man named Murphy grabbed the woman’s dog and threw it from the balcony before the authorities could arrive. Fortunately, the dog survived the fall and managed to escape with only minor injuries. The brave little pup was dubbed “Miracle” by those who witnessed her amazing recovery.

Miracle has been receiving loving care from a foster family since last December. Despite being a young and registered service dog, she is still eager to provide support and affection to those who need it. Fortunately, Animal Services has found a perfect home for her with a war veteran in need of an assistance animal. Service dogs play a vital role in helping veterans with physical limitations or injuries by performing various tasks, such as opening doors, controlling switches, fetching items and alerting others when needed. These dogs also offer emotional support and comfort to veterans who have PTSD or other mental health issues as a result of their service.

Volusia County’s Animal Services Director, Adam Leath, expressed his gratitude to everyone who played a role in getting Miracle the happy ending she deserved. He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts between law enforcement and animal services organizations in providing assistance and resources for pets and their owners. The intervention was successful in protecting Miracle from further harm.
