Before the match could begin, President Florentino Perez personally handed Doncic the honorary membership badge of Real Madrid on the field. Doncic expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to meet his old teammates and play against them, saying that he had been looking forward to the game all summer. “Thank you for everything,” he said with a smile.
Several members of the Real Madrid men’s soccer team, who were not part of the national team, such as Toni Kroos, Lucas Vazquez, Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba, Dani Ceballos, and Brahim Diaz, were seen at the Wizink Arena watching the match.
Unfortunately, the basketball player born in 1999 was not in his best shape due to hip pain from a recent practice session. As a result, he could only play for roughly five minutes and managed to score nine points. Despite his efforts, the Dallas Mavericks lost against Real Madrid Basket with a final score of 123-127.
Madrid is set to host an NBA pre-season game for the first time since 2016, when Doncic and Real Madrid Basket emerged victorious over Oklahoma City Thunder.
